He may claim to be ‘the unluckiest player in Poker After Dark history’, but Jean-Robert Bellande has just proved that being ‘lucky in love’ can help to balance the books a bit, the ‘Broke Living’ poker star getting married this week to his sweetheart Veronica Llamas, now Mrs Bellande!

The poker world has been hit with yet another cheating allegation. The latest cheating saga has erupted in the high-stakes cash games community and the alleged culprit this time around is American poker pro Jean-Robert Bellande who is also a nightclub owner and promoter. Jean-Robert Bellande (born September 17, 1970 in Long Island, New York) is an American nightclub owner, promoter and poker player who has a Bachelor of Arts in marketing from Azusa Pacific University and is now living in Las Vegas, Nevada. Bellande first gained public exposure during a World Series of Poker circuit event in March 2005. He finished 3rd, behind Doug Lee and Jennifer Harman.

Born in New York to Haitian parents, Bellande had a tough upbringing, but first through his marketing degree and nightclub involvement, and then through his poker in Vegas, he has certainly managed to turn things around – despite always pleading that he’s broke, hence the nickname – his website carrying the tagline ‘Broke and Living Like a Millionaire!’

With over $2million in tournament earnings, and a seat in the biggest games in town whenever he wants it, you’d be hard pushed to describe him as down on his luck, although he did once lose a $3.million cash game pot!
